HEAL YOUR CHAKRAS WITH COLOUR & LIGHT

The Science of Colour

Scientific knowledge confirms that we respond to colour from the depths of our psyche. The retina of the eye is the largest of all users of the brain’s neurones occupying 30% of the capacity of the cortex of the brain compared with 3% used for example, hearing.

When we see light, there is a biochemical transformation within our body cells via hormones that have an effect on our moods and emotions, physical wellbeing and behaviour. For example, colour enters the optical system and stimulates production of melatonin, the hormone secreted by the pineal gland, which regulates our sleep patterns and mood swings. Colour stimulates or depresses the hypothalamus gland which inturn affects the pituitary gland. The latter is the master gland, which controls the whole hormonal system including the sex glands, thus colour has an effect on all hormonal secretions into the blood system, inturn affecting our well being.

The Chakra System

All around you, you have what’s called, an “aura.” The Chakra system is an electro-magnetic energy system consisting of both a auric field and internal patterns within the body and has traditionally been analysed as a series of sub-systems making up what we refer to as, “The Chakra system”

You can feel your energy field when you rub your hands together a little then bring them apart and the sensation felt between your hands is the energy of your aura, your soul.

Each of the chakras represents one of the seven layers of the aura, which are known esoterically as the “seven bodies” ranging from the most physical aspect to the most etheric aspect. The chakra system enables us to associate colours of the spectrum with each of the body’s vertical zones.

Such an analysis of the aura and the chakra points is helpful in understanding how energy, light and colour affects us and how we can use it to become healthier and happier.
